With just a day left to enter the 2019 National Fish & Chip Awards, Young Frier competition KFE would like to encourage all of those firers in our industry to enter and invite them to our training school. Click here to enter now!
KFE are excited to once again present The KFE School of Frying Excellence Experience. This invitation is open to all of the 2019 Young Friers entrants in association with Drywite, NFFF and Seafish. The event will take place on Wednesday 18th July at the KFE School of Frying Excellence training academy located in Market Deeping, near to Peterborough.
KFE are proud to support those joining the industry and are passionate about promoting fish and chips as an excellent career path to the younger generation which is why we have organised a free event to all that enter for the past 8 years. This year we open the doors to the KFE School of Frying Excellence for a free days training with our team of award winning trainers, Nigel Hodgson of Hodgson’s Chippy in Lancaster, Mark Petrou of Petrou Brothers in Chatteris, Calum Richardson of the The Bay in Stonehaven and Gordon Hillan, all previous National Fish & Chip Takeaway of the year winners; along with Garry Rosser of The Scallop Shell in Bath and the 2016 Fish and Chip Restaurant of the year winner.
This is an excellent opportunity to get an insight from them into the awards and learn from these award winners, of which 3 have also won the Young Frier of the Year award also! It also gives the candidates a chance to meet each other, as for many this will be the first year in entering the awards and it is always good to meet those in the same position and share your own experiences with each other.
The day is sure to be action packed and will include a presentation from Garry Rosser and Calum Richardson where the fresh fish counter will be brimming with readily available and sustainable fish. They will educe and demonstrate the art of top-notch preparation and their fabulous cooking techniques. Following this Nigel Hodgson and Gordon Hillan will run through preparing the fish and potaoes for frying and serve up some lunch before Mark Petrou and the team discuss marketing and competition advise. Then it is time to hand over to the young friers for a fun ‘cook-off’ between the groups to display the what they have learnt from the day.
KFE understand that most people will be travelling down the day before and would like to extend the invitation and take all the Young Friers out for dinner on the Tuesday evening. We have reserved rooms at at a local hotel in Peterbrough which is walking distance from where we will be eating, at Posh Fish & Chips, it is sure to be a great evening with great company.
