The National Fish and Chip Awards 2025 are open for entry, starting the search for the next set of champion fish and chip shops.
Organised by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), the National Fish and Chip Awards is in its 37th year, with Seafood from Norway as its principal sponsor.
The awards ensure high standards are maintained and improved throughout the sector, sustainable practices are adhered to, and innovation is celebrated and recognised, to help businesses thrive and for communities to enjoy the best quality food.
This year there are 13 categories to enter:

When their business Ship Deck in Caerphilly won Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year Award at this year’s awards, owners Ryan and Kimberly Hughes saw trade increase by 85% overnight which continued for almost three months before levelling out a 65% increase.
Meanwhile, George Morey, manager at Knight’s Fish Restaurant in Glastonbury, Somerset, said trade increased by 20% after winning Fish & Chip Restaurant of the Year. He adds: “Winning for us hasn’t just been about the increase in trade, it’s about what we have learnt throughout the process. This was our third year of going for the Restaurant Award and each time it improved so many areas for us – customer service, quality, ingredients, sourcing, sustainability. It’s a scheme you keep learning from each time you enter.”
