We are proud to support Middleton Foods again as it launches The Peter Hill Award 2024 by providing two places on our School of Frying Excellence for the winner.

Following its tremendous success last year, Middleton Foods is delighted to announce that The Peter Hill Award is back and even bigger than before! The unique competition opens today, 1st July 2024, to newcomers to the fish and chip trade, with a phenomenal £15,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

Launched in memory of Middleton Foods’ CEO Peter Hill, Ryan Baker, Sales Manager, Middleton Foods, says: “The Peter Hill Award reflects Peter’s passion for the fish and chip industry – the trade he worked in for most of his life; the trade he adored and loved so much. Peter was committed to supporting the fish and chip trade and nurturing new talent in the sector and loved welcoming new people into the industry. He placed huge importance on raising standards and seeing the trade represented well. The Peter Hill Award recognises newcomers to the industry, encourages new talent, promotes quality and excellence and allows us to give something back to the trade. We know Peter would love it!”

With an even bigger ‘money-can’t buy’ set of prizes worth over £15,000, we are including two places on our School of Frying Excellence for the winner. Here they can learn all aspects of running a successful fish and chip shop in our state-of-the-art training facility, which includes a fully-equipped prep kitchen plus a working Kiremko high efficiency frying range.

Paul Williams, Managing Director at KFE, comments: “We are proud to support Middletons Foods with The Peter Hill Award 2024. He was a great friend of ours, always a gentleman and forever championing the fish and chip trade. By supporting the winner, we are helping to keep Peter’s legacy alive while starting a newcomer off on the best possible foot with advice and best practice from our team of award-winning trainers.”

The Peter Hill Award 2023 was won by Oliver’s Chippy in Warton, Lancashire. The five runners-up were: Angell’s Fisheries, Newark; Anstruther Fish Bar, Anstruther; Harrison’s Fish & Chip Co., Oxford; Jojo’s Van, Stafford; and Toll Bar Fish & Chips, Stoney Middleton.
